Phantoms 0 - 20 Braves

last year the Phantoms made the long trip up to Derby to take on the Braves with a tired, depleted squad and got comprehensively beaten 74-0.  This year, it was the Braves who made the long trip, to face the much improved Phantoms.

The Phantoms' first drive ended quickly with a fumble and a Braves recovery inside the 30 yard line.  Derby took advantage of the field position with a short drive and TD on a QB sneak.  Bad luck stayed with the Phantoms most of the day on Offence, as turnovers marred a strong rushing performance from the APU backs.  Derby scored in the 2nd quarter with a well executed playaction pass, the PAT was blocked, however, leading to a 13-0 half time score.

The Grave-Diggers were doing just enough to keep the Phantoms in the ball game the whole way, but turnovers saw an end to several promising drives, leading to 3rd quarter TD pass for Derby to seal the game.

The Phantoms can now concentrate on resting, and getting ready for February when they restart the campaign against the Essex Blades.
