Save for a few
playoff games, the 2005/06 BCAFL season is over, and marked a
year of much improvement for the Phantoms.
For starters, we
won the first game in the team's history in an emotional
encounter week 1 against Royal Holloway. Then we showed
that we can hang with the perennials, holding a half time lead
over UEA, whilst keeping Kent and Division champions Greenwich
to single digit points in their respective games.
The Phantoms now
look to be building that necessary core of players that it
takes to set up a successful team, with the emergence of
several impressive rookies, all of which showing outstanding
commitment to the team. A big thank you goes out to all
new players.
As well as the
rookies, a big thank you also deserves to go this seasons
returning players, especially those who will be leaving the
team now that the season is over and have helped build the
team we have now.
A thank you also
needs to go out to all our supporters who braved the elements
at times to come to our games, and of course the Sirens, the
official cheerleaders of the Phantoms who are coming of their
first season together....thanks girls!
Finally, thanks
needs to go out to coaches Drew and Geordie who keep this
whole thing together!
PS: On a personal
note, I'd like to thank Drew and all the Phantoms for giving
me the opportunity to coach this great sport!
